BEHEMOTH DINOSAUR
ON NOAH'S ARK
$11.00

This "Noah's Ark" was hand-made
by Clifford Scott.
It was formed of terra cotta clay
then kiln-fired and painted with acrylic paint.
It is about 4 1/2 inches long.

The roof is removable.
The sauropod is plastic
and came from a party favor store.

This is fairly easy to make.
First get a plastic sauropod dinosaur
so you know how long to make the Ark.

The Ark is made in three pieces:

1. The rectangular body.
This must be big enough
to fit your plastic dinosaur.

Remember that clay shrinks
just a little when kiln-fired,
so make the body about an eighth of an inch
longer than the dinosaur.
(The dinosaur's tail may also be heated
and bent up so it fits better.)

2. The boat-shaped bottom piece.
Make this piece so that the rectangular body
just fits in it. Both pieces will shrink the same.

3. The roof.
I like the idea of the dinosaur's head
peeking out of the roof.
It adds whimsy to the whole thing.

The roof should have
one triangular end piece
on the back to give it stability
and make it fit better on the body.
The front of the roof can be cut
while the clay is in the "leathery" stage.
Use the plastic dinosaur to make sure
its head will stick out of the roof.

After pieces are kiln-fired,
(and this should be done
with all three pieces in place),
epoxy the rectangular body
to the boat-shaped piece.

Then paint all pieces with arylic craft paint
that comes in bottles.
Use whatever color
you think the Ark may have been.
Remember it was wood.

If making a Dino On Noah's Ark seems
too complicated or beyond your abilities,
you may order one already made

LEVIATHAN DINOSAUR
ON NOAH'S ARK
$17.00

This "Noah's Ark" was also hand-made
by Clifford Scott.
The bottom was formed of terra cotta clay
then kiln-fired and painted with acrylic paint.
It is about 4 1/2 inches long.

The top part is an old
McDonald's Happy Meal toy from 1990.
When opened, it contains a dragon!
The toy has been painted with acrylic paint
and epoxied onto
the ceramic bottom of the Ark.

If you have one of these Happy Meal toys
and want to make this Ark yourself
here are some instructions and hints:

Follow the instructions above
with these modifications.

The boat-shaped bottom piece
needs higher sides.
Make them about one half inch
above the floor.
This is so the bottom of
the Happy Meal toy remains hidden.

The Happy Meal toy must have
1/8" dowel pieces epoxied on the "feet"
to allow the toy mechanism
to clear the bottom of the Ark
when it is opened.

If making this Dino On Noah's Ark
seems to complicated
or you don't have one of these
Happy Meal toys
you may buy one already made
by Clifford Scott.

Because I only have 5 of these
Happy Meal toys,
this "Noah's Ark" is more expensive
and will not be available forever.

LEVIATHAN THAT SHOOTS SPARKS
OUT OF HIS MOUTH
$8.00

SPARKING DRAGON
(A 1998 Burger King kid's meal toy)

This Dragon Dinosaur is made of plastic
and is 3 1/2 inches tall.
There is a clear purple plastic shield
in its mouth
for protection against flying sparks.

When the Dragon is pushed
along the floor or tabletop
two rubbery wheels turn a mechanism
that generates friction flint sparks
from the mouth.

(Since I only have a few of these
Sparking Dragons
they will not be available forever)
